Bonhamtown, New
Jersey
Paul Pace tells us:
Graves in Edison Township (formerly Bonhamtown), New Jersey, may
contain members of the 42nd Regt. (Black Watch) since they took part
in a significant battle in the area on May 10, 1777 taking numerous
casualties:
- Revolutionary War skirmishes took place in Bonhamtown,
Piscatawaytown and along Woodbridge Avenue. In fact, the St. James
Episcopal Church building served as a hospital for wounded British
soldiers during the war, and six British soldiers killed in one of
the area's skirmishes are buried in the cemetery at the
church.
